The Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) provides families with healthy foods, nutrition education, breast and chest feeding support, and referrals to other social and health services so that you and your family can grow healthy and be strong. WIC serves income eligible pregnant, postpartum, and breastfeeding people, and children up to 5 years old.

Things to Know About WIC

  • Eligibility depends on household size and income.
  • Dad, grandparents, and other caregivers of children younger than 5 may also sign up for WIC.
  • Foster children younger than 5 and foster teens who are pregnant are eligible for WIC.
  • If you or your family member are on Medicaid, Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), or Basic Food, you may be eligible for WIC, too.
  • Many working families and military families are eligible for WIC.

What Benefits Does WIC Provide?

  • Nutrition ideas and tips on how to eat well and be more active.
  • Breastfeeding support, such as access to a peer counselor.
  • Health reviews and referrals.
  • Monthly eWIC benefits for healthy food such as fruit, vegetables, baby food, formula, and milk.

Help Me Grow WA Network leverages funding to support local Help Me Grow efforts

Through the Preschool Development Grant (PDG) awarded to the Washington State Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF) underspent dollars, Help Me Grow Washington received a total of $100,000 to invest in communities exploring or implementing Help Me Grow at the local level. Four communities were granted funding through this opportunity, including: Island, Grays Harbor, Skagit, and Whatcom. This funding wrapped up September 30, 2025.
