Health Insurance for Your Family

Washington state has several health insurance programs. Washington Healthplanfinder is the online marketplace where you can compare health plans, find free or low-cost plans, or get help paying for your plan, depending on your income. Our state’s Medicaid program is called Washington Apple Health, and offers free or low-cost health insurance for income eligible adults, pregnant people, and children.

Apple Health for Kids

Your child may be eligible for Apple Health for Kids free or low-cost coverage (with a low premium) if they are a Washington resident and your household income meets eligibility requirements. Coverage includes medical, dental, vision, and mental health benefits for children younger than age 19. There are no deductibles or copays, and Apple Health is available regardless of citizenship or immigration status. Children who are eligible will stay covered through the month they turn 6 years old, regardless of changes in household income.

Visit our online Benefit Finder to see if your family qualifies for Apple Health for Kids.

Call the Apple Health Hotline at 1-877-543-7669 for up-to-date information on eligibility and enrollment support.

Apple Health for Pregnancy

Apple Health is available for pregnant individuals who live in Washington and meet the income requirements, regardless of citizenship or immigration status. Coverage includes free prenatal care, delivery, and one-year comprehensive coverage post-pregnancy, as well as dental and vision care, and one year of medical care for your newborn. Apple Health can also provide maternity support services, infant case management, and childbirth education to help you have a healthy pregnancy and childbirth. If you are a teen and want these services to be kept confidential, Apple Health provides a paper application process.

Visit our online Benefit Finder to see if you qualify for Apple Health for Pregnancy.

For childbirth classes and other pregnancy support, call the Help Me Grow Washington Hotline at 1-800-322-2588.

Qualified Health Plans

If you are ineligible for Apple Health, you may still be eligible for a Qualified Health Plan, a low-cost health insurance plan. When enrolled, you will receive help paying your monthly insurance through subsidies, cost-sharing reductions, or premium assistance. Call the Help Me Grow Washington Hotline at 1-800-322-2588 for support enrolling.

Low-Cost Community Clinics

Some clinics provide medical care to individuals without health insurance at a reduced cost, called a sliding scale fee. These clinics provide good care, but the amount you pay may be less if you have less money coming in. Find a low-cost community clinic near you.
